iGENEA DNA Test: An Unexpected Journey into the Kögel Ancestry and its Influence on My Self-understanding

Family name Kögel

iGENEA recently illuminated my Kögel lineage in surprising ways. From my ancestors' Celtic roots to their contribution in various eras, these revelations have reshaped my understanding of self, connecting my present to a rich past.

iGENEA has brought my ancestry to light in exciting and unexpected ways, dramatically changing my self-understanding. I used to know very little about my Kögel ancestors - knowledge confined to a few generations back, filled with stories passed down orally. After taking the DNA test, I was surprised to learn about my ancestors' migration patterns, professions, and how many had significant roles in shaping various eras in history.

According to my DNA test, the Kögel lineage dates back to the time of the Celts, an Iron Age civilization in Europe. My ancestors were part of the advanced culture that thrived around 500 BC to 600 AD. Fascinatingly, they had substantial contributions toward developing the European Iron Age art, which truly captivated me, igniting an interest in Celtic Art.

The test pointed out the migration patterns my ancestors followed during the Viking era. They traveled from Germany to Scandinavia, unexpectedly aligning with the Viking expansion era. The discovery aroused in me an observed affection for exploration and travel, that I hadn't connected to my roots before.

The test also revealed the professions my ancestors pursued. Alongside craftspeople, there were merchants, tillers, and surprisingly, some nobles, which revealed an illustrious historical background I hadn't anticipated. This newly unearthed origin explains my innate tendency to stand up for the rights of common people and my fascination for crafting - activities I couldn't previously connect to my ancestral lineage.

Moreover, my ancestors played significant roles in landmark events, embarking on Crusades to the Holy Land and participating in early Germanic migration periods. This unexpected revelation has enhanced my understanding of my courage and determination that now feels embedded in my DNA.

Understanding my Kögel ancestors' past has been an exciting journey, changing my self-perception. These unusual insights have brought me closer to my roots - inspiring newfound respect for my lineage and in turn, pointing out virtues of tenacity, courage, artistic inclination, and leadership that now makes more sense - engaging with my history has indeed aided self-understanding.
