Embarking on the Unexpected: Surprising Finds on the Partridge Family History Through the iGENEA DNA Test

Family name Partridge

My family's narrative was reshaped following an iGENEA DNA test result. The fact that the Partridges originated from Eastern Europe and have substantial Sephardic Jewish roots was a profound revelation. The name Partridge's potential Jewish link solidified the DNA results, embarking me on an insightful journey into our family's history and personal identity.

I had always known that my family, the Partridges, had a rather convoluted history. Still, nothing quite prepared me for the revelations presented by the iGENEA DNA test. There were many astonishing revelations, some of which are still difficult for me to process.

The first surprise was the discovery of Eastern European roots. All my life, I had been led to believe that our family had British and Scandinavian roots, and nothing else. However, the DNA test painted a different picture. Our genetic makeup had substantial traces from Poland and the Ukraine, implying that at some point, a part of our family moved from Eastern Europe to Britain, intertwining our history with that of another culture.

This unraveled not just a change in location, but a connection to historical events, possibly exploring the impact of wars and mass migrations which influenced family movements. It was unexpected, intriguing, and sent me on an intense journey of tracking down our family’s migration timeline.

Even more of a surprise was the discovery of Sephardic Jewish roots in the Mediterranean. It was hard to conceive that my ancestors could be some of the elusive hidden Jews who kept their faith secret during the Spanish Inquisition, migrating across various countries. The even bigger surprise was the significant percentage of our DNA that is of Jewish origin - around 35%.

The iGENEA DNA test could link these details only up to the point where our last known Jewish ancestor lived, which is roughly around the 16th century. It's an exciting prospect to think about the incredible journey my family had from Eastern Europe to Britain, preserving their Jewish identity all along.

Upon digging further into the surname Partridge, I came across a fascinating shift. The name Partridge is of English origin but also has a possible Jewish origin. This alignment with the DNA results does imply a possible Jewish link, making the connection much more plausible.

The journey of self-discovery, facilitated by the iGENEA DNA test, has been nothing short of spectacular. Even though this far-reaching lineage unearths several surprises, it's comforting to know that, just like other families, ours also has a rich, historic tapestry that goes beyond what meets the eye.
