DNA Testing with iGENEA: A Journey through the Lineage of the Rosenberger Surname
Family name Rosenberger
Undergoing a DNA test with iGENEA provided a deeper and extended insight into my family name, Rosenberger. The methodical process using extensive DNA markers offered accurate results. The results not only enlightened my understanding of my lineage through DNA testing but also demonstrated an authentic narrative of my family name.
The process of getting my DNA tested at iGENEA was quite comprehensive and intriguing. I always had a fascination to understand the lineage of our family name Rosenberger and these tests provided the solution. The platform serves a multifaceted approach involving studying Y-Chromosomal and mitochondrial DNA to get a precise genetic makeup of the individual.
After sending my DNA sample, it was transferred to a laboratory, where it was coded for anonymity. What made it more reliable was the qualitative approach as they sequence typically 16-111 Y-DNA markers and HVR1/HVR2 areas in mtDNA test depending on the package chosen. These precise sites are beneficial in pinpointing the haplogroup and subsequent migrations and mutations.
Moreover, due to the genetic recombination process, the Y-DNA results show paternal ancestry or surname lineage while the mtDNA results indicate maternal ancestry. iGENEA’s report of my Y-DNA test came with understandable illustrations of the historical geographical dispersal referring to my haplogroup. The readings from these tests were insightful, providing accurate percentages for different ethnic groups. Additionally, it was enlightening to find that Rosenberger ancestors migrated from Eastern Europe, and were particularly concentrated in the regions of the Baltic States.
The results also included a match list, revealing people who match my direct paternal line. Upon further research, I discovered that many of these individuals also carry the Rosenberger surname hinting at common ancestor, further illustrating the accuracy of the iGENEA DNA test.
